Exploring Surgical Excellence: A Vision from Instituto Quirúrgico Lacy
In this installment of "Robotics Redefined," we are joined by Dr. Borja de Lacy, Oncologic Surgeon and CEO of IQL (Instituto Quirúrgico Lacy). Through an in-depth and analytical conversation, Dr. de Lacy shares his vast experience in addressing complex gastrointestinal and oncologic pathologies, highlighting how robotic technology has redefined standards of safety and radicality in the operating room. The interview not only emphasizes the direct clinical benefits for the patient but also offers a strategic perspective on the role of leading institutions at the forefront of surgical innovation.
Toward Universal Precision Surgery
Beyond technical skills, Dr. de Lacy addresses the critical challenges of technological implementation, analyzing the institutional and personal barriers surgeons face when adopting robotic systems. From his dual perspective as both a clinician and a leader, he explores the necessary path to transform robotic precision from a premium service into a universal and sustainable standard of care. This session provides an essential roadmap for understanding how education, accessibility, and the ethical principles of innovation will shape the future of surgery over the next decade.
