
Dr. Omar Bellorin-Marin is board-certified in Surgery specializing in Bariatric Surgery and Hernia Repairs. Dr. Bellorin-Marin is widely respected for his unique focus on weight loss surgery, hernia repairs, gallbladder surgery, and other complex abdominal surgical procedures. A dedicated surgeon born in Venezuela, Dr. Bellorin-Marin earned his medical degree at the Central University of Venezuela School of Medicine. He then completed his first surgical residency at the University Hospital of Caracas and the Central University of Venezuela followed by a research fellowship in Minimally Invasive Surgery at Cleveland Clinic Florida. He then completed an internship and second residency in Surgery at NewYork-Presbyterian Queens. He continued his training with a fellowship in Advanced Gastrointestinal and Minimally Invasive Surgery, including bariatric, robotics, abdominal wall hernias, and reflux disease, at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical College. Dr. Bellorin-Marin also did a rotating fellowship in Surgical Oncology - Colorectal & Gastric Mixed Tumors at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. More recently, he completed a fellowship program in Healthcare Leadership through Harvard University and Weill Cornell Medicine. Currently, Dr. Bellorin-Marin serves as the Medical Director for GI Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery and Robotic Surgery at Holy Name Medical Center. He also serves as the Program Director for the General Surgery Residency Program at the same institution. Prior to his current appointments, Dr. Bellorin-Marin served as an Attending Surgeon for Minimally Invasive Surgery, Gastrointestinal Metabolic, and Bariatric Surgery in the Department of Surgery at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital and Weill Cornell Medical Center. Dr. Bellorin-Marin's research focuses on but is not limited to minimally invasive surgical approaches for weight loss, hernia repair, gallbladder removal, and common bile duct exploration. He is an active researcher who has completed numerous peer-reviewed publications and book chapters and has presented at national and international meetings relating to his specialty.
