Dr. Manish Chand is a practising surgeon at The London Clinic and University College Hospital, London; as well as a clinical academic and Associate Professor of Surgery at University College London. He is also the Chief Medical Officer for The AIS Channel.
His clinical interest and expertise is minimally-invasive surgery (laparoscopy and robotic) for colorectal cancer and advanced endometriosis for which he is recognised as a global trainer and key opinion leader offering training to many surgeons across the globe. This includes leading training programmes across the Middle East and North Africa.
His research interests are in surgical technology which include image-guided surgery, fluorescence; AI and Augmented Reality. He has published over 150 peer-reviewed articles and continues to research into these areas and their integration into the next generation robotic platforms. He has an excellent record on first-in-man studies and believes in enhancing cutting-edge technology for patient care. To this end, he is on the technology committees for the EAES and ASCRS.

In 2007, Dr. James Rosser demonstrated a remarkable connection between video game skills and laparoscopic surgery proficiency. Over the years, research has evolved, diving deeper into this correlation and exploring whether gaming can actively enhance surgical skills. Today, gamification and serious games are revolutionizing laparoscopic and robotic training.

Recent advances in technology and techniques have significantly improved outcomes for patients with rectal cancer. This event will spotlight two of the most groundbreaking innovations in the field. Our expert panel will present data on lateral pelvic node dissection and the use of indocyanine green (ICG), along with the integration of these methods. The program will emphasize the cost-effective laparoscopic approach to lateral pelvic node dissection and demonstrate how ICG enhances the safety and precision of pelvic dissection. Internationally renowned faculty will share valuable insights, including data, surgical videos, and practical tips for adopting these laparoscopic techniques globally.

Anastomotic leak remains one of the most feared complications following bowel anastomosis. Although anastomotic techniques have changed from suturing to stapling, and both staplers and stapling techniques have evolved and improved, leak rates for pelvic anastomoses remain high. Although compression anastomosis has been intermittently used for almost 100 years, it was only about 10 years ago that its superiority over circular stapled anastomoses was demonstrated. This program will show the newest method of compression anastomosis and offer compelling evidence for its value.

Minimally invasive surgery has been clearly proven as superior to open surgery and has thus become the standard of care. Traditional minimally - invasive surgery has limitations of loss of rotation and angulation which may present further challenges. Although the robotic platform addresses these limitations, the cost of the robotic platform can preclude its global availability. This program will present an alternative surgical platform which addressed the limitations of traditional minimally - invasive surgery without necessitating the capital outlay required to acquire a robot.
