Breaking access barriers to breast cancer prevention
This presentation highlights a groundbreaking urine-based breast cancer test designed specifically for young women, aiming to break access barriers to breast cancer prevention. The innovative device developed is radiation-free, pain-free, low-cost, and easy to operate while effectively detecting breast cancer through urine analysis. Breast cancer poses a significant global health challenge, necessitating early detection for improved survival rates. However, conventional screening methods like mammography can be cost-prohibitive, uncomfortable, and involve radiation, hindering access for young women. Thus, an alternative screening approach is imperative. On top of that, the mammogram does not provide clear visualization of small tumors in young women, who have dense breast tissue. The presented device revolutionizes breast cancer screening by utilizing non-invasive urine samples for analysis. Our eNose’s sensor array reads these volatile breast cancer biomarkers from the urine and then our AI algorithm can spot a pattern within our sensors response, which is indicative of breast cancer. The key advantages of this urine-based test are its non-invasiveness, affordability, and simplicity. Urine samples can be easily collected at home or in clinical settings, without discomfort or radiation exposure. The device's low cost ensures accessibility for a wide population, including those in resource-limited settings. By introducing a radiation-free, pain-free, low-cost, and easy-to-operate urine-based breast cancer test, this presentation offers a promising solution to overcome access barriers. The device holds significant potential to revolutionize breast cancer screening, making it more accessible and empowering individuals to proactively manage their health through early detection and intervention.
