Rob Surgical: Universalising High-Precision Surgery

Rob Surgical was created with the aim of universalizing precision surgery and bringing its benefits to all hospitals, surgeons and patients around the world.  The technology company offers an open, flexible and versatile platform consisting of a column of four arms, which allows the movements of the surgical instruments to be controlled with sub-millimeter precision. Rob Surgical's value proposition is based on three pillars: high precision and safety that benefits the patient, superior usability for the surgeon and a significant reduction in the total cost per surgery that benefits hospitals, as it does not require a dedicated operating room, requires less staff, no pre-training and supports hybrid surgeries. The company is in the final approval phase for its surgical robot. Since May 2023, it has been successfully operating on patients at the Hospital Clínic in Barcelona. The company proposes a business model capable of intensifying the use of robotic surgery. Currently, the cost and complexity of robots mean that a robot can only operate in an operating theatre adapted for this purpose, under the guidelines of a specialized surgeon, which makes it an expensive and limited process within reach of a few. Rob Surgical, on the other hand, pursues the objective of performing as many operations as possible, helping to ensure that all citizens have access to the benefits of high-precision surgery. With this premise in mind, a robot has been designed to be capable of adapting to any operating theatre and with usability accessible to any surgeon with minimal training. Rob Surgical has managed to configure a light, ergonomic and practical surgical platform, which allows transport between different operating theatres or hospitals, opening the door to the arrival of high-precision surgery to all patients, surgeons and hospitals.
