with Dr. Sergi Fernández
Dr. Fernandez discusses the importance of lymphatic drainage assessment and the various pathways involved in lymphatic diseases, emphasizing the role of sentinel lymph node biopsy as a valuable tool.
The presentation highlights key findings from studies suggesting no significant benefits of pelvic lymphadenectomy in low-risk endometrial cancer. However, for high-risk cases, conflicting retrospective studies exist. The speaker emphasizes the significance of sentinel lymph node biopsy in providing an adequate assessment tool for lymphatic diseases and guiding appropriate adjuvant treatments.
Detailed surgical techniques for pelvic lymphadenectomy and sentinel lymph node biopsy are demonstrated, including anatomical landmarks, instrument placement, and intraoperative considerations. The video concludes by emphasizing the importance of standardized techniques, recognizing anatomical landmarks, and the continuous learning curve associated with these advanced surgical procedures in gynecological oncology.
