Dr. Ugo Grossi is a General Surgeon with vast experience in Colorectal and Proctology.He graduated in Medicine and Surgery with full marks and honors from the Sacred Heart Catholic University of Rome in 2007 and specialized in General Surgery at the A. Gemelli Polyclinic in 2015.Between 2015 and 2019 he carried out his PhD at Queen Mary University of London.He is currently Medical Director of General Surgery at the Complex Operational Unit of General Surgery 2 of the Regional Hospital of Treviso AULSS2 Marca Trevigiana.Furthermore, since 2022 he has held the position of Assistant Professor of Surgery at the University of Padua.Dr. Ugo Grossi is an expert in the diagnosis and treatment of pelvic floor pathologies such as: faecal and urinary incontinence, constipation, pelvic prolapse, hemorrhoidal disease, anal fissure, perianal fistulas and abscesses, pilonidal cyst.He is the author of over 100 publications and book chapters in international journals with impact factor.

Dr. Francesco Ferrara is Assistant Professor and Consultant of Surgery at University of Palermo (Italy), with subspecialization in Colorectal and Abdominal Wall Surgery. He graduated in Medicine and Surgery at the Catholic University of Rome and specialized in General Surgery at the University of Siena. He carried out a surgical fellowship at the Hospital Sant Pau of Barcelona (Spain) and worked as General and Emergency Surgeon at San Carlo Borromeo Hospital of Milan until 2023. Dr. Francesco Ferrara has good experience in the treatment of Colo-Rectal and Proctological Diseases with traditional and minimally invasive techniques as well as Abdominal Wall Surgery with advanced minimally invasive approaches. He also has good skills in Emergency and Trauma Surgery. He is General Secretary of the Italian Society of Colo-Rectal Surgery (SICCR) and author of over 100 publications in international indexed journals. He is a member of the Editorial Board of BMC Surgery and Frontiers in Surgery and invited speaker at several national and international congresses. His main professional and scientific interests focus on surgical oncology, gastrointestinal diseases, colorectal and proctological surgery, hernia and diastasis recti surgery, emergency and trauma surgery, laparoscopic and robotic surgery.

Dr Andrea Bondurri is a Consultant General Surgeon at Luigi Sacco University Hospital in Milan, Italy, where he is in charge of the Colorectal Surgery Unit. He received his MD and postgraduate degree in General Surgery at the University of Milan, and his PhD in Surgery and Surgical Biotechnology at the University of Insubria - Varese. He is qualified for Associate Professor position in the Italian National Scientific Qualification System for General Surgery. He has been elected in the National Council of the Italian Society of Colorectal Surgeons (SICCR) from 2017 to 2021. In 2018 he co-founded the Multidisciplinary Italian Study Group on Stoma (MISSTO). MISSTO’s mission is to unite surgeons, stoma nurses, allied professionals, and patients to improve outcomes and quality of life for people living with stoma. Recent contributions include Italian surgical guidelines (Ferrara et al., 2019); Italian nursing guidelines (Roveron et al., 2021); Italian urological guidelines (Tafuri et al., 2022); Mapping review on ostomy complication management (Parini et al., 2023); educational initiatives and collaborative audits. He is serving Annali Italiani di Chirurgia, the oldest national surgery journal in Italy, as Editor-in-Chief since February 2024. He is the Author of more than 80 scientific papers published in peer-reviewed impact factored scientific journals with a personal Scopus H-index of 25 and more than 2,900 citations

Gianluca Pellino has an M.D. degree. He is Ph.D. in Traslational Medicine, and is an Associate Professor in General Surgery at the Università della Campania "Luigi Vanvitelli", Naples, Italy. He has completed two master degrees (Statistics and Methodology of Research; IBD and Colorectal Surgery). He is currently serving as staff surgeon and research coordinator at the Department of General and Abdominal Surgery, Colorectal Unit, Vall d'Hebron University Hospital, Barcelona and is Profesor Agregado (Associate Professor) in General Surgery at Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona UAB. He has served as Colorectal Surgeon at the Unit of Colorectal Surgery of University Hospital "La Fe", Valencia, Spain, as 2017 European Coloproctology Fellow. Dr Pellino has studied medicine at the Medical University of Naples and graduated in 2008. He completed the Residency Programme in General Surgery in 2016. He completed the ESCP 6-month Fellowship 2016 at the Colorectal Surgery Unit of the Royal Marsden Hospital, London. He attended the St. Mark's Hospital, Harrow, London in 2017 with an Erasmus+ Traineeship placement. Since 2019, he is Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England (FRCS), and since 2022 Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians (FRCP). He is a Fellow of the European Board of Surgery (FEBS) in coloproctology upon passing the exam of the European Board of Surgical Qualification (EBSQ-c) in 2018. In 2018 he received the status of International Fellow of the American Society of Colorectal Surgeons (FASCRS), valid until 2023. In 2020 he became Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS). He is former Regional Representative (Campania) of the Italian Society of Colorectal Surgery (SICCR) and former Website Committee Member of the European Society of Coloproctology (ESCP). He served in the Guidelines Committee and Communication Committee of the ESCP, and is member of the ESCP Cohort Studies WG and of SICCR Research Committee. He has been co-chair of EuroSurg (2017-19), National co-Lead (Italy) for GlobalSurg 3 Study, and is local PI of several multicentric studies. He is vice-chair of ItSurg Collaborative. Dr Pellino was also Chairman of Young ESCP (2020-23) and Member of the Young Committee (Y-ECCO) of the European Crohn's and Colitis Organisation (ECCO), he is Member of the European Association for Endoscopic Surgery (EAES), Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES), Asociación Española de Coloproctología (AECP), Asociación Española de Cirujanos (AEC), Grupo Español de Trabajo en Enfermedad de Crohn y Colitis ulcerosa (GETECCU), Italian Group for the Study of Inflammatory Bowel Diseases (IG-IBD), Italian Society of Surgery (SIC), Japanese Society of Gastrointestinal Surgery (JSGS). He has written more than 300 journal articles in peer-reviewed journals and coauthored book chapters. His special interests are in inflammatory bowel diseases, colorectal cancer, and proctology, with particular emphasis on surgical treatment and training. He is the Reviewer of several journals, including the Lancet and British Journal of Surgery. He joins the Editorial Board of BJS Open, World Journal of Gastroenterology, Surgery, Updates in Surgery and is Associate Editor of Frontiers in Surgery. He has received the 2019 BJS Editor Assistant Bursary 2019. Since 2024, he is the Editor in Chief of International Journal of Colorectal Disease.
