The Panamerican Trauma Society seeks to encourage the exchange o knowledge and information among physicians, nurses, pre-hospita providers, and other health care personnel who take care of injure patients in North, Central, and South America. Carlos is a consultant emergency and trauma surgeon as well as a humanitarian surgeon. He originally trained in Chile first as an Obstetrician and Gynaecologist and after completing it he trained as a general surgeon. Then he continued his post grad studies in Sydney,Australia where he obtained his qualifications in trauma and emergency surgery. He then worked as a consultant trauma surgeon in Sydney until he moved 10 years back to London in the same position in 2 different MTC (Kings College and St Georges), He was appointed as a consultant surgeon In Birmingham MTC in 2024. During early stages of his career and following one of his dreams and passions Carlos joined MSF (Doctors without borders) and has been deployed to all 5 continents during his missions. Using his unique skillsets he has been in the role of O&G and trauma Surgeon, Carlos has invested a significant amount of time on medical situations where these skills can be required and armed conflicts as well as natural disasters are 2 examples. He has hold the role of advisor for MSF in O&G and Trauma in 2 different periods. He is also part of the MSF telemedicine advisors. He has equally had several missions with ICRC and WHO. Carlos is the surgical lead for CRASSH healthcare in conflict research network from Cambridge University. Dr Pilasi is passionate about delivering quality medical care directly in the field and through trainings, both standard trauma courses in high income countries and as well trainings specifically addressed to humanitarian doctors and bedside teaching as part of MSF responsibilities.

Dr. Martha Quiodettis stands as a distinguished Trauma Surgeon, holding the pivotal position of overseeing the Trauma Service at Hospital Santo Tomás in Panama City, Panamá. Her journey in the field of medicine began with the completion of her General Surgery degree at the same institution in 2005. Following a dedicated tenure as staff at Hospital Santo Tomas, she embarked on a transformative phase in her career by relocating to Miami in 2009. Dr. Quiodettis pursued and successfully completed her Trauma and Surgical Critical Care Fellowship at Ryder Trauma Center, Jackson Memorial Hospital, University of Miami. A beacon of leadership in her domain, Dr. Quiodettis currently holds the esteemed position of President of the Panamanian Trauma Society. She is also recognized as a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and has played integral roles within the Panamerican Trauma Society since 2014. As a prolific author, Dr. Quiodettis has contributed to the scientific community with published papers in peer-reviewed scientific journals. Her passion for advancing the field extends to fostering the engagement of surgical residents in research projects and international presentations. Notably, Dr. Quiodettis initiated a groundbreaking hospital-based electronic trauma registry, garnering support from the Panamerican Trauma Society. Her commitment to global collaboration is evident through the facilitation of international rotations in Trauma Surgery Service for surgical residents and fellows from Spain, Germany, Peru, and the United States at Hospital Santo Tomás. Adding another feather to her cap, Dr. Quiodettis serves as an occasional editor of the Panamerican Journal of Trauma, Critical Care & Emergency Surgery. Beyond her editorial responsibilities, she extends her expertise as an ACLS and BLS instructor at the Regional Center for Health Training and Simulation (CREASS-Panamá). Dr. Quiodettis has also contributed her skills as an instructor in DSTC courses in Spain. Dr Quiodettis is the elected president of The Panamerican Trauma Society for the 2024-2025 period. At the heart of her professional and scientific pursuits lies a dedication to trauma surgery, the creation of national trauma systems, and a relentless commitment to improving access and equity in healthcare. Dr. Martha Quiodettis stands as a true luminary in the realm of Trauma Surgery, leaving an indelible mark on the global medical community.
