

Founded in 1988, the General Thoracic Surgical Club is a not-for-profit organization representing more than 325 general thoracic surgeons worldwide who are dedicated to ensuring the best possible outcomes for surgical procedures of the lung, mediastinum, esophagus, and chest wall by providing the highest quality patient care through education, research, and clinical experience.
Our Mission: To advance and strengthen the general thoracic surgery community through clinically relevant scientific education, networking and the sharing of best practices among professionals in general thoracic surgery.

Dr. Erin A. Gillaspie is an Associate Professor with Tenure and Chief of Thoracic Surgery at Creighton University Medical Center. She completed her training in thoracic surgery at the Mayo Clinic and began her career in thoracic surgery at Vanderbilt University Medical Center where she served as the Director of Thoracic Robotics and Clerkship director of the medical student surgery rotations. She then transitioned to her current role as the Chief of Thoracic Surgery for Creighton University Medical Center. She is active in many thoracic surgical and oncologic societies holding leadership positions within the STS, GTSC and ECOG-CRIN. She has authored over 70 scientific papers and book chapters. Her primary research interests include pulmonary surgery, robotics, and peri adjuvant drug trials.

Dr. Nirmal Veeramachaneni is a Thoracic Surgeon and Professor of Surgery at St Louis University, St Louis Missouri USA. He trained in surgery and thoracic surgery at Washington University in St Louis, and has previously held faculty positions at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill USA, and the University of Kansas in Kansas City, Missouri, USA. Dr. Veeramachaneni serves as the director of lung cancer screening for SSM St Louis, and St. Louis University. He was previously Vice Chair of the Operative Standards Committee for the American College of Surgeons Cancer Research Program. He is a member of the AATS, and serves on the editorial board for the Journal of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery. His surgical practice focuses on thoracic oncology, and uniportal minimally invasive surgery.

The GTSC Annual Meeting is the place to learn about the latest research across specialties in general thoracic surgery.
